The Henry Royce Institute is a UK national institute for advanced materials research and innovation. It is a partnership of nine leading institutions – the universities of Cambridge, Imperial College London, Liverpool, Leeds, Oxford, Sheffield, the National Nuclear Laboratory, and UKAEA. Royce coordinates over £300 million of facilities, providing access to equipment frequently used by our researchers.

The EPSRC Future Manufacturing Hub in Manufacture using Advanced Powder Processes (MAPP) is led by the University of Sheffield and brings together leading research teams from the Universities of Cambridge, Leeds, Manchester and Oxford, University College London, (UCL), and Imperial College London, together with 20 industry partners and the UK’s High Value Manufacturing Catapult. Our research forms an important part of their Solid-State Processing research platform.

Many of our current and former students complete their PhD/EngD programs through the Advanced Metallic Systems Centre for Doctoral Training (AMS CDT). More information, as well as current projects to apply for, can be found on their website.
