Small Punch Testing

I received my MEng in Materials Science with Nuclear Engineering from the University of Sheffield in 2016. During my degree I also spent time on placement with EDF energy assisting with reactor material monitoring.

Current Research

My PhD runs in collaboration with Culham Centre for Fusion Energy, CCFE. It focuses on the use of small punch testing as a way of analysing new structural materials for nuclear fusion reactors. Due to the limited amount of material available for testing, small-scale testing will be a vital part of the development of next generation of nuclear reactors.

I work mainly with the finite element software Abaqus along with the coding language Python.  It is hoped that running simulations of small punch testing will help better understand the complex deformation involved.
